Spinal Cord Injuries

Here at Burton Center, we serve those individuals with spinal cord injuries. Our services are geared toward helping them improve the quality of their life. We provide the opportunity to gain more independence.

A spinal cord injury is when there is a tear or other damage done to the bundle of nerves that goes through the center of your back. It’s responsible for sending signals to and from your body and your brain. When it becomes injured, the signals are disrupted. Usually, the damage occurs as a result of a fracture or a dislocated vertebrae. A majority of injuries are tears in the cord issue or happen because the vertebrae pushing down on the nerves.
